Your customers' love is never bought... it’s earned

Like in many other walks of life, love is what matters. And when it comes to scaling a startup love is the whole foundation. It’s actually really simple. Scalable startups are the ones able to tent to that initial small group of customers or users who love their product. The whole idea behind this is that people tend to talk about the things they love. And if one small group of people loves it, then it’s plausible that many others will join in.

3 pointers on how to foster that unique loveable product or service

  • If your product or service is getting attention that's good, but now the “game of love” really starts. You need more than attention, you need your customers' devotion. Be aware of early customer needs, listen to feedback, go the extra mile and be yourself. Stay true to what your customers fell in love with and evolve your business around that.

  • Keep your eyes on the ball and keep your devoted customers top of mind. When customers fall in love with a brand oftentimes it’s the core, the soul or the main service or product. As a business owner you really need to stay true to that. Evolve the service or product in a way that adds additional value to the thing that got your customers hooked the first place.

  • Forget about the many for a start and direct your attention to the loyal few. The loyal few are the ones that tell the many that your product or service is great.
